The meadow in front of you is quite heavily grazed by horses so the wildflowers you can see in it, such as selfheal, are those which can stand some trampling.

The meadow beyond the hedge behind you has longer grass which is food for field voles. At night tawny owls hunt for them.

Beetles and spiders provide food for common shrew and birds such as crows.
Listen for grasshoppers by day, crickets in the evening.
